Abstract:
The principal results from two testing programs, one including eight statically-loaded and eleven dynamically-loaded full scale isolated slab-column connections and the other including tests of two one-quarter scale nice panel slab models, are presented along with observations concerning the failure modes and strengths of connection models and slab systems as limited by their response in shear. Difficulties in classifying the failure of slab column connections into a shear or flexural failure mode and in providing adequate ductility in these regions are discussed.
