Abstract:
An approximate theory is presented for the torsion of cellular sections with no thin wall restrictions. The approximate solutions for three basic regular hollow polygonal shapes are compared with numerical soltions and shown to be in good agreement. Two solutions for an elliptical section also compare well with the exact values. A numberical example with three annular regions illustrates the generality of the technique.
