Abstract:
The design of large panel shear walls must take into account the fact that the strength and stiffness characteristicsof the vertical joints between panels are different from those of the wall panels themselves. . .This paper summarizes current knowledge of the behaviour of vertical, keyed shear joints as observed on small test specimens and outlines the implications of this knowledge on the design of a complete wall system. The paper os based primarily on reference (17), which was prepared under the auspices of CIB Commission W23A, Loadbearing walls.
