Abstract:
The purpose of the Normal Weight Concrete Proportioning Session is to familiarize the student with the recommended procedures for calculating mix proportions by the two methods given in ACI 211.1-70. Methods discussed are (1) proportioning by weight based upon an assumed, estimated or calculated weight per cubic yard, in which specific gravities of the aggregate are not required and (2) proportioning by absolute volumes of all ingredients. An example of proportioning by both methods is discussed step-by-step, supplemented with slides and student worksheets.
