Abstract:
The paper extends the application of A.L.L. Baker's ultimate load theory to the design of non-prismatic continuous girder and rigid frame bridges subjected to rolling loads. It deals mainly with two new aspects: (1) determination of influence lines for the rotation of 'plastic hinges' and (2) calculation of influence coeficients for non-prismatic members.
