Abstract:
A structural wood-fiber concrete has been developed at the Technical Research Center of Finland. Modifying various properties of this concrete (e.g., density, tensile strength, ductility, and workability of the hardened material) allows it to be used in both structural and nonstructural building elements. The flexibility of the manufacturing process (from computer-controlled automation to intensive manual labor) enables wood-fiber concrete to be produced in both industrialized and developing countries.
