Abstract:
An increasing interest in the use of steel fibers to improve the properties of concrete led to this study of fiber concrete in torsion. Its objectives are to examine and record the behavior of fiber concrete in pure torsion and to provide methods for torsional behavior analysis of the fiber concrete. Data were drawn primarily from eight test beam specimens of various fiber content tested in the laboratory and compared with plain concrete data, and were used also as a means to compare between the numerous combinations and percentages of steel fibers in compression, splitting tension, tension, and modulus of rupture. Additionally, the data are used to compare theoretical analysis of the same test beams with respect to ultimate torque, torsional stiffness, and fracture energy.
