Abstract:
Prior to the introduction of ternary cement in Canada, a testing program was performed to evaluate and optimize the strength, durability, and economic properties of concrete produced using blended cements. Data are presented from a wide range of tests on blended cements with various levels of silica fume and slag cement. The results indicate that the combination of silica fume and slag cement can result in significant improvements in both fresh and hardened concrete properties. Ternary cement was shown to be versatile and suitable for use in most types of concrete construction.
