Abstract:
This case study describes underwater repair to the bullnose section of the St. Lambert Lock, on the St. Lawrence Seaway, that was damaged as the result of a collision by a vessel. To avoid interruptions to navigation, repairs must be made quickly when the Seaway is closed from January to April, typically the harshest months of winter. Design criteria leading to the selection of the placement method and the special repair mixture are discussed. Properties of concrete and results of post-construction inspection are presented.
