Abstract:
High-workability, flowing consistency concretes incorporating admixtures have recently seen increased use in the construction of densely reinforced members. For this type of concrete, especially for slumps greater than 7 in. (178 mm), the commonly used test for evaluating concrete consistency, the slump test, is not recommended. One test that may fill the need for a test in that range is the DIN flow table. Tests run comparing the DIN flow table with the slump test, for concretes of plastic or flowing consistency, have shown good correlation. This has led to the conclusion that the DIN flow table can be used as a complement to the slump test.
