Abstract:
In 1994, the U. S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, Ala., initiated a series of engineering studies to improve prediction methods for the structural performance of 12 inch (305 mm) reinforced concrete walls under blast loading. The analytical approach developed under these studies takes advantage of recent advances in finite element modeling methods. It provides significant improvement in realistically predicting the response of reinforced concrete walls to high intensity dynamic airblast loading.
