            Abstract:
As they developed the course list for freshmen and sophomores, faculty for the Arizona State University Concrete Industry Management program found that ACI certification programs could be used to integrate the basic concepts and theory of concrete with the actual way concrete is tested and handled in the field. The Field Grade I certification exam has been useful because it provides hands-on experience with concrete, directly linked theory to practice, and thus provides an excellent credential for a student seeking an internship or part-time employment. Faculty members at other institutions have made similar observations.
