Abstract:
Incremental launching has become widely used as a bridge construction method, particularly in Europe. Limited at first to the construction of relatively simple bridges, incremental launching has been used successfully in recent years for the construction of bridges with increasingly complex geometry. The Ile Falcon Bridge currently under construction in Switzerland exemplifies this trend. This long curved concrete bridge features varying span lengths, girder depths, and top slab widths.
