Abstract:
Concrete is a heterogeneous material. Its properties depend on the properties of its component phases, and the interaction between them. Paper studies the effect of coarse aggregate characteristics on mechanical properties of high-strength concretes. Granitic, basaltic, and calcareous aggregates are used. Compressive and flexural strength, modulus of elasticity, and stress-strain behavior are analyzed in concrete, mortar, and rocks. Matrix-aggregate bond strength is also evaluated.
