Abstract:
Multistory concrete buildings are usually constructed by supporting newly cast slabs on a number of hardened slabs. The influence of the time-dependent deformations on the load distribution and slab deflection during construction have been noted for more than 30 years. Despite this, no formal stress analysis has been made concerning influence of creep on the load distribution of reinforced concrete structures during construction. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how to calculate and estimate the influence of this creep deformation by a refined computer model that has been developed for multistory reinforced concrete building frames during construction. Numerical examples corresponding to typical construction schemes are made using the computer model.
