Abstract:
Results of an experimental and analytical investigation on the strength and deformation of biaxially loaded short and tied columns and shear walls with channel-shaped cross sections are presented. The study explores the behavior of five columns and six shear walls (two of them made of high-strength concrete) under loads monotonically up to failure. The strength interaction curves and load contours of channel-shaped compression members are presented to provide advice for design recommendations and a design example is given to provide possible design procedures.
