Abstract:
Recent investigations have confirmed the importance of biaxial interactions of reinforced concrete columns under strong base motions. This paper compares the performance of three biaxial models with recorded results from laboratory specimens under prescribed displacement paths. The three models are the triaxial spring model, the trilinear degrading model, and the biaxial bilinear model. Six laboratory specimens are selected for the comparisons. Adequacy of the models is discussed with respect to the specimens.
