Abstract:
The moment connection of two-way slabs to edge columns is critical and difficult in reinforced concrete frames. The ACI Building Code proportions transfer of this moment partly by flexure and partly by shear. A requirement that the reinforcement also be proportioned to insure transfer of calculated flexural and shear moment was added in 1983. Practical methods are explored to show these requirements on design drawings.
