Abstract:
Results of on-site early-age temperature monitoring of a viaduct made with high-performance concrete are reported. Finite element analyses were carried out to investigate the influence of the combined effect of ambient and fresh concrete temperatures on the maximum temperature and the thermal gradient in this high-performance concrete structure. The results of the numerical study show that the temperature of fresh concrete has a greater influence than the ambient temperature on the maximum temperature, and the cooler the fresh concrete, the smaller the maximum thermal gradient in the structural elements.
