Abstract:
Despite the availability of advanced computer programs, simplified analytical methods provide a rational tool for buckling analysis of submerged concrete cylinders. Such methods are critically reviewed in this contribution, and a limit state analysis based on relevant high-strength concrete properties is recommended. The parameters of the proposed limit state design checks are verified based on modern reliability methods.
