Abstract:
A design is presented for concrete plates simply supported on four edges and subjected to combined in-plane and transverse loads. The method is similar to the ACI moment-magnifier approach for columns. Material nonlinearities are considered using an approximate expression for the ratio of stiffnesses in the x- and y-directions. The design method shows reasonable comparison with test results. A design example is presented to illustrate the method.
