Abstract:
The complete load-deformation response of reinforced fiber concrete deep beams is investigated both analytically and experimentally. The softened truss model theory for nonfibrous concrete has been modified using new stress-strain relationships for fiber concrete, and a series of tests was carried out to generate relevant information. Test results indicate that including discrete fibers in concrete significantly improves the strength and deformation characteristics of deep beams. A comparison of test results with theoretical predictions of the load-deformation response shows very good agreement for the entire range of loading.
