Abstract:
Cold weather concreting practices of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Alaska are described. Particular attention is paid to the current (1987) specifications for placing concrete in cold climates. Temperature control, temperature rate of change after curing, type of cement used, mix proportioning approval method, and the use of colored concrete in airfield pavement to control differential frost heave are discussed.
