Abstract:
Prestress losses from creep and shrinkage of concrete and wire relaxation predicted by present industry procedure are compared to the results of industry tests performed over the past four decades. The predicted and the experimental results are also compared to results obtained using a new theoretical analysis of the state of stress in prestressed concrete pipe based on the recommendations of ACI Committee 209 for creep and shrinkage of concrete, and other recent developments for evaluating losses in prestressed concrete.
