Abstract:
The poor conditions of roadway surfaces are a constant problem for maintenance personnel and a source of complaint for motorists. The criteria of pavement design are discussed, with attention given to the fact that asphalt intersection pavements often experience deterioration sooner due to a lack of stability. Concrete is the paving material that provides durability, rigidity, and increased skid resistance, resulting in a safer pavement for the public. Intersection rehabilitation approaches are summarized.
