Abstract:
The exit channel downstream of a stilling basin is a primary source of rip-rap, boulders, and similar debris that cause abrasion-erosion damage. Successful stilling basin repair depends on correcting the adverse conditions that caused the original damage and using repair materials that are least susceptible to erosion. Hydraulic model or prototype tests should be conducted prior to any major repair, and potential repair materials should be tested and evaluated.
