Abstract:
Describes the Concrete Lapping with Pre-erected Composite Arch Method of building concrete arch bridges. The method involves constructing halves of tubular steel arches on each side of a river, joining them together in the center, and filling them with concrete to form a stay-in-place composite arch to support the formwork for the concrete bridge arch. Two Japanese bridges built by this method are described.
