Abstract:
Historical developments leading to the new ACI specification on cold weather concreting are reviewed. Attention is focused on the evolution of the current definition of "cold weather" and on changes in the protection requirements to prevent damage from freezing at an early age. The evolution of the current criteria for form removal is also reviewed, and the paper concludes with a presentation of key aspects of the standard specification.
