Abstract:
During construction of reinforced concrete buildings, the safety of a slab depends mainly on the load imposed on the slab and the available strength of the slab. To avoid unexpected failures, the load imposed on slabs should be less than their available strength at each construction stage. This article describes a simplified computer-based method to calculate the construction load imposed on slabs with shored formwork. The safety check of slabs is explained and some practical examples are given.
