Abstract:
Describes a test program undertaken by the United States Bureau of Reclamation to determine the feasibility of lining a canal without dewatering the canal. The technique employs an admixture that prevents washout of concrete fines in the flowing water and increases the cohesiveness of concrete. Underwater placement of concrete canal linings is seen as an important development in water conservation that will be useful worldwide.
