Abstract:
Presents methods and specification language that can be used to develop the control and flexibility necessary to produce high quality suspended floor surfaces. Accepted standards and tolerances are not capable of controlling the quality of deflected suspended surfaces, and the variety in available materials and floor framing methods leads to unique floor systems that don't always deflect as anticipated by the engineer. Incorporating additional control measures and flexibility into the construction process allows the design/construction team to respond intelligently to observed behavior of the structure during construction.
