Abstract:
Presents some long-term (10-year) properties of one of the first recorded North American field applications of silica fume concrete. The compressive strengths over the years of four concrete sidewalk sections are given. The concrete for each section contained a different cement content and 10 percent silica fume. The bubble-spacing factor, chloride-ion permeability, and microstructure of these concretes after 10 years of exposure to severe climatic conditions and deicer salts show that they are still in very good condition.
