Abstract:
Recent research reports indicate that fiber-reinforced cellular concrete (FRCC) has physical attributes that are desirable in a material of construction. This paper describes the results of mechanical tests designed to establish load-deflection behavior of a specific FRCC. Basic modes of behavior that are of interest to design engineers, including flexure, compression, direct tension, and shear, are investigated. The results of impact tests are also discussed. Results indicate the ability of fiber-reinforcement to transform the basic material character of cellular concrete from brittle to ductile elasto-plastic behavior.
