Abstract:
This paper describes and discusses the results of an experimental investigation into the effects of the strength of concrete infill and mortar joint type on the compressive strength and behavior of unfilled and filled full- and half-block prisms compressed normal to the bed face. The test results are then used to derive a simple empirical formula to determine the specified compressive strength of blockwork masonry.
