Abstract:
Describes the grouting of the Los Angeles North Outfall Replacement Sewer with low-density cellular concrete. Discusses the contract specifications, grout mix designs, and project challenges and solutions. To handle the grouting delivery distances of up to 14,000 ft from the portals, the contractor designed and built his own pumps. Placement rates of 105 yd 3/hr were achieved through 4-in. slicklines, the maximum volume placed in 1 day being 1200 yd 3.
