Abstract:
Flushing Viaduct, a concrete arch structure supporting the New York City Transit Authority's track, is being rehabilitated. The condition surveys and the investigation leading to the detection of the alkali-silica reactivity that contributed to the freeze-thaw damage are covered. The repair philosophy and major design decisions leading to a significant rehabilitation project are enumerated.
