Abstract:
ACI 318-95 Appendix B provisions for flexural members are described for application to reinforced concrete members. Design parameters for section flexural strength and reinforcement ratios are derived and then applied to example problems. Results are compared with those produced by the body of ACI 318-95 clause 10.3.3. Since the Unified Design provisions are based on maximum tension strain at failure, it is shown that for heavily reinforced sections they produce logical and consistent ductility conditions.
