Abstract:
Examines the effectiveness of an inclined tremie for placing concrete in relatively small and closely spaced damaged areas under water. Presents test results for in situ properties of three repair concretes placed under water, in a box designed to simulate a shallow damaged hole, using vertical and inclined tremie pipes. Properties evaluated include spreadability of the concrete around obstacles, in situ unit weight and compressive strength, and bond of repair to existing concretes. Discusses results of a subsequent pilot repair to fill a large submerged hole with concrete using an inclined pipe.
