Abstract:
The Beddington Trail/Centre Street, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is the first prestressed concrete highway bridge build in Canada that is pretensioned by carbon fiber reinforced plastic tendons. It also is the first bridge to use structurally integrated optical sensors technology to monitor the behavior of the strain on the concrete. The bridge was completed and opened to traffic on November 5, 1993.
