Abstract:
A study of vibrations induced in a reinforced concrete structure by machine tools and effects of these vibrations on sensitive instruments is presented. The transmission of vibrations away from the structure has been approximated using impedance functions, and the structure has been modeled by a three-dimensional computer model to approximate the distribution of vibrations. Two modeling assumptions for vibrations transmitted from one part of the building to another (coupled and uncoupled) have been considered.
