Abstract:
In this case history, the restoration of truck ramps under a high-rise building in downtown Chicago is described. Epoxy polymer concrete (EPC) overlay was used to return the severely deteriorated ramps to their original monolithic structure. A comprehensive program of crack repair, patching, restoration and addition of expansion and control joints, and placement of a new protective surface to improve traction and driving surface quality was carried out and the total project was completed on schedule in 39 days.
