Abstract:
Construction is slated for completion in 1996 on a second crossing of the Severn River between England and Wales. One of Britain's largest public works ventures in decades, the project has been handled by contractors and engineers from both England and France. This $430 million (300 million ú ) structure will be 5.2 km long and include two multispan approach viaducts from the Avon (England) and Gwent (Wales) shores to the main bridge over the navigation channel.
