Abstract: Attention is given to the physical erosion of concrete in hydraulic structures resulting from particles carried by flowing water and from pitting resulting from cavities forming and collapsing in water flowing at high velocities. Disintegration of concrete by chemical attack is also discussed. Materials, mix proportions, and construction procedures which will make concrete more resistant to erosion are presented.
