Abstract:
Complete stress-strain curves were obtained for 56 laterally reinforced high-strength and normal-strength concrete panels that were tested in biaxial compression-tension and uniaxial compression. Such thin elements may represent the response of such structures as shear walls, deep beams, and box girders. The results were compared with observations on similar specimens tested in uniaxial compression in a previous investigation. The study investigated the effect of concrete strength, lateral tensile loading, reinforcement ratio, reinforcing bar spacing, and panel height on strain-softening behavior, final crack formation, compressive strength, and strains at ultimate.
