Abstract:
This paper deals with an experimental research of slender high-strength concrete columns subjected to eccentric load. The current trend in column design is toward the use of more slender columns and the use of high-strength concrete. There are some benefits due to use of high performance concrete, e.g. the increase of load capacity and the decrease of cross-section size. Second order effects are enhanced due to smaller cross-section size and must to be considered in analysis of the behaviour of the specimens. The objective of this paper is the knowledge of structural behaviour of slender high-strength concrete columns with a point of view of influence bending about weak axis. An experimental program with sixteen full-scale slender high-strength (approx. 83 MPa) concrete columns under combined biaxial bending and axial load is presented. An abstract of columns found in the bibliography is given in Table 1.
