Abstract:
The Great American Tower, a parking, office, and retail development in downtown Cincinnati, OH, was built as a truly joined effort among architect, structural engineer, general contractor, concrete subcontractor, two local ready mixed concrete suppliers, concrete consultant, testing laboratory, and the owner. Before the construction started, key players involved in its design and construction met for a partnering session to form a team and establish the decision making procedures for the execution of the concrete work. The mat foundation served as the first test of the team and served as a testimony to the team’s cohesiveness.
