Abstract:
This paper aspires to influence in the eternal debate between total prefabrication (dry-construction) and semiprefabrication in the building where prefabricated elements and in situ concrete coexists. After an introduction with historic antecedents of prefabrication in the twentieth century (Louis Khan, Pier Luigi Nervi, Eduardo Torroja and Miguel Fisac), there?s a comparison with dry-construction and semi-prefabricated building. The core/central point of the paper go deeply into four singular semi-prefabricated buildings: ? Polytechnic University of Valencia with nervous precast plate. ? Footbridge of Saint Adrià Besós (Barcelona) with selfresistant prestressed pre-slab. ? Underground Sports Pavillon into school of Rubí (Barcelona) with lighted precast plate. ? Universitary Library of Lleida with prestressed mixed beam. The paper/article concludes thinking about the future of prefabrication with the application of CFRP profile ( carbon fiber reinforced polymers).
