Abstract:
The Gilberto Borja Navarrete Viaduct (previously San Marcos Viaduct) spans the River San Marcos in the Mexico City-Tuxpan corridor. It is a singular structure both for its location in Eastern Sierra Madre and its dimensions: at the time of construction, its pier 4, which towers 208 m over the foot of the valley, was the tallest ever built in a balanced cantilever bridge.
