Abstract:
During construction, some bridges experience large equipment loading for the contractor to safely and efficiently perform the construction work. This presentation will focus on the construction engineering analysis and structural design for these operations. Examples showing heavy equipment used on bridges being demolished and new bridges under construction will be provided. Discussion points will include strength, constructability and serviceability checks, and best practices for the safety of workers and the public, including tips for efficient analysis and practical design.
