Abstract:
Additive manufacturing in the construction industry drives a reduction in material use but the majority of 3D printing materials can still be categorized as mortars with high cement content. Due to the demanding rheological requirement for a 1K extrusion system, the mix design of 3D printing materials in the literature focuses on the printability, with, in a few cases, a posteriori assessment of the environmental impact. The present study proposes to include a life cycle analysis component, along with flowability, buildability and structuration rate in the Pareto optimization of a limestone calcined clay mortar with high cement replacement.
